We are finding that a lot of our couple’s are missing out on some of our favorite wedding photos- the details! Detail Shots include everything from your invitation suite to your shoes & perfume. We want to photograph anything and everything that is sentimental to you! So here are our tips on how to get stunning bride & groom detail photos .

How to get Stunning Bride & Groom Detail Photos

PLAN AHEAD

We like to start the day with photographing the detail shots. Typically we arrive when hair & makeup are happening, so it is nice when we don’t have to bug you with a million questions. Here are some easy ways to keep that from happening:

On your wedding day, assign a bridesmaid to show us where the following items are: Wedding dress, Wedding shoes, Garter, Jewelry, Wooden hanger, Wedding invitation, Wedding rings, Bouquet, Note/gift for the groom, Handkerchief, and any Sentimental items. You can even put these items in a box or bag so the bridesmaid can simply point us to them. That way you can rest assured everything will be documented.

Try to keep the room as tidy as possible. We know that can be next to impossible, but having a clear area to work in cuts on the time we need.

Have the dress out of the garment bag- along with any of the stuffing. This saves us so much time- which means we can spend more time taking photographs!

INCLUDE ALL THE THINGS

We would rather have too much stuff to work with than not enough!

Make sure that you put your Grandmother’s vintage ring in the things to be photographed. The old ring box of your Mother’s that you used to play with as a child. Anything that is SENTIMENTAL that YOU LOVE + IS A PART OF YOUR wedding day needs to be captured!

And let’s talk perfume. (This one holds a special place in my heart.) Of all our senses, our sense of smell is most closely tied to our memory. You read that right, Memories can be triggered by a scent! So let’s not forget that pretty bottle on your wedding day!

DON’T FORGET THE GROOM

Sometimes the guys can get overlooked- but it’s their day too! Make sure they have their own goodie box set aside too. We see Bowties, ties, pocket knives, cuff links, fun socks, and family heirlooms. We want to make sure that their special details are captured as well!
