Are kids welcome at your wedding? This is a HOT TOPIC with a lot of couples when you’re in the planning process. Our best advice, make the decision to include children in your wedding (or not) as early as possible! The decision is TOTALLY your call. And please don’t feel bad for your decision- and stand by it!

This post is for those people who ARE including children. Here are some tips on how to Keep Kids Happy + Entertained Your Wedding

#1 Have a Kid’s Activity Table

This is always HUGE hit! Kids love having an area separate from the grown ups. They felt special- and that they were thought about.

Designate a table at the Reception just for the kids. Include crayons, coloring sheets, plain paper, blocks, and anything else simple and fun! Kids don’t need anything elaborate! Note from a parent- don’t have toys they can fight over. Keep it simple!

BONUS POINTS for having print outs related to your wedding! Maybe a drawing of your venue or something Charleston themed! I love these by Texture Design Co (and they’re free 🙌)

#2 Have special Snacks Ready

We have seen countless meltdowns because the kiddos are hungry. Kids have some of the biggest appetites ever. You will be a HERO for thinking about this ahead of time.

Opt for some mess-free snacks and some fruit cups. Crayons and coloring sheets can come in handy too- especially for the parents who limit screen-time.

Story Time! Our son came to my Brother-in-Law’s wedding with us in Houston, TX. When Levi started to get hangry I didn’t think twice about grabbing the Cheese Puffs for him. Well… we will forever have Photos of him covered in Cheese Dust during Formals 🤦‍♀️ #RookieMistake

#3 Hire a Sitter for the Day

Hire someone who can keep an eye on the kiddos during the Reception. We are so lucky here in Charleston to have some pretty incredible Babysitting Agencies that can help you find someone! (This is super helpful when you’re having a Destination wedding.)

You can always ask your vendors! We are the proud parents of a 5- year old and can always help too. Don’t be afraid to ask!

How to Keep Kids Happy + Entertained Your Wedding

Whether you decide to have kids are the wedding or not is a personal decision. We opted to have a totally kid-free wedding. It was definitely a hot-button for a lot of our family, but I still stand by my decision. We also love seeing the kiddos tear up the dance floor at the weddings we work!
